Screen time, made social

Challenge your people to put the phone down.

Tapout turns cutting screen time into a game you play together. Invite anyone — friends, family, co‑workers — then challenge each other to stay off the apps that eat your day. You pick the reward. They earn it.

One account, everyone in

Anyone can challenge anyone.

There’s no boss and no babysitter. Everyone on your account can invite people and challenge people — one‑on‑one or the whole group at once. You decide the reward, the stakes, and the rules. Tapout keeps score.

How it works

Three steps between you and less screen time.

STEP 01

Bring in your people.

Send an invite to anyone with an iPhone — your group chat, your team, your family. Everyone lands on one shared account, and everyone gets the same powers.

“We are more likely to focus when we do it together.” — it’s the first thing the app tells you.

STEP 02

Set the challenge. Name the prize.

Session length, sessions per day, total to win, time windows — you set every parameter. The reward is whatever you’d actually give: brunch, concert tickets, gas money, bragging rights.

No point systems, no gift‑card catalog. If you can promise it, it can be the prize.

STEP 03

Tap out. Collect.

Start a session and your distracting apps actually lock — powered by Apple Screen Time, not willpower. Finish your sessions and the reward flips to ready. Then it’s on them to pay up.

Progress, streaks, and time saved — all on the weekly leaderboard for everyone to see.

Under the hood

Built to keep everyone honest.

Real blocking

During a session, blocked apps are actually locked via Apple Screen Time. No honor system, no “just five more minutes.”

Rewards you invent

A camping trip, courtside seats, twenty bucks, dish duty for a week. If it motivates your person, it counts.

Weekly leaderboard

Time saved, sessions done, streaks kept — the whole account sees who showed up this week.

Your rules, per person

Every challenge is tuned to its person: which apps, how long, how often, and what winning is worth.

FAQ

Fair questions.

Who can challenge whom?

Anyone on the account can challenge anyone else on the account — friend to friend, co‑worker to co‑worker, kid to parent. Challenges can be one‑on‑one or set for the whole group.

How does the blocking actually work?

Tapout is built on Apple’s Screen Time framework. When a session is running, the apps you’ve chosen are shielded at the system level — opening one shows a “Tapped Out!” screen instead. When the session ends, everything unlocks.

What can a reward be?

Anything you’re willing to give. Rewards are freeform — people use brunches, tickets, cash, chores, road trips, and plain bragging rights. Tapout tracks when it’s earned; you deliver it in real life.

Can someone cheat?

Not easily. Sessions are enforced by the operating system, not self‑reported. Progress only counts when a session actually completes on the device.

What devices does it support?

Tapout is on iPhone today. One subscription covers your whole account, no matter how many people you bring in.
